39 Weeks.....7 days away

We are very excited that we are close to the due date.  Just waiting for our little baby to join the world.  This week Scott and I have both come down with a head cold.  I hope to get rid of it before I go into labor.

We had a good friend, Teri Kubik take some maternity pictures for us this past weekend.  They turned out so cute! I will share a few of them soon!

Our 40 week doctor apt. is tomorrow at 3:30pm.  I am sure I will have more to report.

Now it is back to bed. Hope I get rid of this head cold soon.

Have a great week!

38 Weeks Along

Hello everyone, Sorry this post is a little behind I have been busy getting ready for Baby Henning to arrive.

Well, lets start out with last Thursday, October 2. I did not have a very good day and just felt off all day.  I had a migraine and was just very uncomfortable.  About 7pm I started having contractions after my girls played their JV match in Boulder.  I headed home and Scott and I timed the contractions until about 4am when they finally stopped.  Neither one of us really got muc sleep because we were so excited that it might be the real thing.  The next day I felt pretty good and did not have any contractions.  Scotts parents came up to visit that Friday.  The men worked on the car and the women went to get mani's and pedis.  It was a very nice day after such a long night.  Scott came home from work early and we went to our 38 week appointment.  The doctor said I was 70 percent effaced and I was starting to dilate.  She said she could feel the head, so the baby has for sure dropped and is getting ready to join the world.

That night we had more contractions but they stopped by about 11pm.  We enjoyed a nice day at Anderson Farms with Scott's company and I did a few miles in the corn maze.  I felt great all day Saturday and had no contractions.  Sunday we had friends over to watch football which was a lot of fun.

Here are some pictures from the pumpkin patch and the corn maze at Anderson Farms!

This week things we have just been finalizing things to make sure we are ready for the baby to arrive.  I have not had any other nights with contractions.  We are just 9 days away from our due date and more excited than ever to meet our new baby!

Our next appointment is our 40 week appointment on Wednesday, October 15, 2014.

Week 37-Full Term

Well, we are officially full term as of Saturday, September 27.  We are all hoping the baby is very comfortable inside and not planning to make an appearance until AT LEAST Wednesday night,  October 1, 2014.  Scott left today for a four day conference in Chicago where he will be presenting a paper on Wednesday.  This is the annual AREMA Conference.  (American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association) Scott and a co-worked have been selected to present a paper at this conference about a current project they are working on in Denver.  After he returns from his trip on Wednesday, we will be all set for the baby to come.  I am very fortunate that my mom and dad have come to stay with me while Scott is gone just in case I go into labor.  They will be here visiting until after the baby is born.

I am very happy to report that I have been feeling well and have not had any migraines.  Hope that continues.  The third trimester sure has been awesome, and I really have been blessed with how well I have felt.  This past week i week on several walks for a few miles.....very nice!

Not a good day for the Steelers but I wanted to post a 37 week picture.

Have a great week! We have our next prenatal appointment this Friday at 3:20pm

Week 36, getting closer

This week was not as great as the last.  I think I have come down with a stomach bug of some sort.  It began on Friday night, I did not get any sleep, I was up all night with pain and discomfort in my stomach.  I will spare you the details, but it is still going on.  I went to the doctor yesterday and she didn't seem to worried about it.  The heartburn is still very bad everyday and every night.

We went to our "Baby Business Class" on Saturday, where we got to tour the maternity ward and ask questions about the delivery.  It is a very nice hospital and we really are looking forward to delivering baby Henning there.  After our tour of the hospital we got all checked for "Baby's First Ride".  This is a service provided to us by the hospital to check to make sure that the car seat is installed in your car correctly.  They also show us how to properly put a child in the seat so that you do not have them in too tight or too loose.  Thanks to my engineer husband, our car seat was installed perfectly!! The lady was very impressed with how well it was installed and did not take much time with us.  Here is a picture of Scott at Baby's First Ride.

Yesterday I was still not feeling well but Scott and I spent the entire day together which was very nice.  We started the day with our 36 week appointment at the OB's office, which went great.  The baby's head is down and it is getting ready to join us in the world in a few short weeks.

36 weeks in front of the Dr. Office

After the appointment we ran a few errands and then ate some delicious pancakes at our favorite spot downtown.

After breakfast Scott had a meeting at work so he scheduled me a prenatal massage.  After I was done with my massage I found out that  his co-workers threw us a Price Is Right Baby Shower during the lunch hour.  So I went over and enjoyed that.  They all brought us books for baby Henning's Library, very sweet!  We came home and Scott grilled us a few steaks and then we went to our Breastfeeding class at the hospital.

Crazy to think I will be full term in just 3 days! Looking forward to welcoming baby Henning into the world! We already love our little bundle so much!

Week 35

Hello everyone!

I am sorry that week 35 is a week late, but I am happy to report that week 35 was great.  I felt really good and I worked quite a bit.  I subbed at my favorite school, North Star Elem. all week and had volleyball practice or games every night. So by the time I got home I was pretty tired.  Subbing was good and my high school girls JV volleyball team did well.  We started the season 4-0, but have been playing some tough teams up in Ft. Collins and Loveland this past week.

Here are some pictures from week 35.  We had some friends over to watch football and enjoyed the weekend feeling pretty good.

34 weeks down, 6 to go!

Well it was a good run without a migraine but I am sad to report they are back.  I started feeling a migraine come on Sunday evening and did my best to fight it on Monday, but by that evening it was full blown migraine status.  I am two days in with no sign of relief.  I am trying anything and everything: heat, ice, apple cider vinegar, rest, pain meds, fluids. Hopefully it will not last very long.

Scott and I had a great time this past weekend at our birthing class.  We took a class at the hospital where we will be delivering which was very informative.  We both feel much more prepared for the delivery of baby Henning.  I also feel much more comfortable with my decision to try to deliver without having pain meds or an epidural.  In the class we learned a lot of labor exercises to help fight through the pain and get through the contractions.  We have a few more classes to take but Scott and I continue to feel more and more ready for the big day.  It is hard to believe we have less than 6 weeks until the due date.

We have officially set the date for baby Henning's baptism.  The baby will be baptized by Father Phil Henning in San Antonio, Texas at St. Dominick's Catholic Church on November 24, 2014 at 10:00am.  Scott and I will be taking baptism classes this Saturday in Denver to prepare for the November Baptism.

Hope you all have a great week.  Here are some pictures from our birthing classes and also a few pictures of daddy putting together the stroller for baby Henning that was purchased for us by a good family friend, Nancy Yoshida.  Thanks Nancy, we love it!

Headed to the first day of class!

Day two of class in front of the hospital.

Happy mommy and daddy!

All ready for baby Henning to arrive. Thanks Nancy!

7 weeks left

Happy to report I am still feeling great and have not had another migraine! I can feel myself getting bigger and I know little Henn is getting bigger and stronger.  It is hard to believe that we are just 7 weeks away from out due date.  I feel like the baby will be here before we know it.

Scott took Daddy Boot camp last weekend which is a class for new dad's.  He really enjoyed it and learned alot.  We start our birthing classes, breastfeeding classes, and hospital tours this weekend.  We are very excited to learn all about the birth process.

This past week/weekend Scott went to South Carolina to see the Texas A&M Aggies beat up on South Carolina in the SEC opener.  I was very lucky to have my good friend Aspen and her daughter Zoey here for the week and my Aunt Evie came for the weekend.  It was so much fun to have a girls weekend.  We had a great time shopping and getting the babies room ready.  Thank you to Aunt Evie and Aspen for coming out and spending the week with me.

I hope all of you are doing well and I will update the blog again next week!

Love,
Scott, Kendra and Baby Henning

Hello everyone! I am happy to report that I am still feeling really well. No migraines for 3 weeks now.  I have been tired but feeling really well other than that.  I had a great trip to California this past weekend to visit friends and go to my baby shower hosted by Aspen Craft.  It was such a great shower and so nice to see all of my friends in Bakersfield.  I got to see friends from high school, college, church, sports and many other walks of my life in Bakersfield.  Here are just a few of the photos from the trip.

9 weeks to go

I had a great weekend with my friends Kathy and Danielle who came to visit.  Kathy flew in on Thursday night from Scottsdale, AZ and Danielle came in on Friday from Houston, TX.  We had a great time catching up and reminiscing on old times.  We spent some time at the pool, ate lunch downtown Denver and attempted to take in a Rockies game but due to a break in a water main downtown the game was canceled.

I am happy to report that I have been feeling well since the hospital stay last Monday.  I am hoping that the next 9 weeks go just as smooth.  We are very excited for baby Henning to join us in October.  I will head to California on Friday for my baby shower hosted by Aspen Craft.  I am really looking forward to seeing all my good friends in Bakersfield.

10 week Count Down

Well, only 10 weeks left until we get to meet baby Henning and we could not be more excited.  We had a little scare on Monday that landed us in the hospital for an evening.  I was experiencing nausea and abdominal pain all day on Monday.  I tried to ignore it throughout the day but it got worse to where I needed to call the doctor.  I was also having contractions every 30 mins or so.  So, we took a trip to Good Samaritan which is the hospital where we will eventually deliver Baby Henning. It was a very good first experience.    As soon as I arrived they addressed me by Mrs. Henning and took me straight to a labor and delivery suite in a wheelchair.  The doctor on call did a full workup and ruled out all major heath issues for mom and baby.  In fact he said baby is very happy and healthy in there.  I was diagnosed with pain due to possible tear in my abdominal wall.  Since the baby has been growing it has caused my stomach to stretch which has caused the pain.  While in the hospital I had contractions that were about 10 mins apart and the baby was handling them very well.  All looked fine and we finally got home about 4:00am.  The past two days I have just been at home taking it easy.  I will be heading back to work tomorrow.

Everything else is going well.  We are just getting everything ready for the baby to be here. Scott is very busy with work and will be doing some upcoming travel.  I am very excited for all of my friends and family who will be coming to visit with me while Scott is out of town.  It will be so good to see all of my friends/family.  I am very grateful for everyone who is coming to spend time with me.  My good friend Kathy will be here tomorrow and will stay until next Monday.  I am looking forward to her visit! I will then go to Bakersfield the following weekend for a baby shower hosted by my good friend Aspen.

To the Third Trimester we go

Yay! Officially into the third trimester and final stretch of the pregnancy.  I am still suffering with migraines but I am hoping they get better in the third trimester.  I have had one since last Thursday so going on 7 days tomorrow.  Hoping that with some sleep tonight I can get it to go away.

We had to make an unscheduled visit to the doctor on Friday because the migraines, heartburn, and swelling were bad.  They wanted to check a few things out and hook me up to a monitor to see how the baby was doing.  All news was good news.  Baby was doing great and moving a ton.  My blood pressure was 102/58 and everything else looked good.  The doctor changed my heartburn meds around and it has been awesome ever since.  I am still taking some pain meds to help the migraines but other than that everything was good.

We are happy to be in the final 12 weeks and are more excited than ever to meet baby Henning in just a few short months! Thanks for following us on this journey! More to come soon!

Baby Shower in Houston

Thank you all who attended my baby shower in Houston and a special thank you to my mom Sharon Gray and good friends Cynthia Lowery and Ashley Helm who put on a great shower! It was so great to see all of my friends and we enjoyed the baby games and all the wonderful gifts.  Scott and I really enjoyed being back in Texas and spending time with the friends that we love so much! Here are a few pictures from the shower in Houston.

Week 26 Update

The baby is growing and getting so much bigger.  I have noticed a great deal of movement and I am starting to wake up in the middle of the night due to movement.  Last night I had a bowl of noodles on my belly and it was moving all over the place.  We are very excited that we are just a week away from the beginning of the third trimester.

My migraines are still hanging around, but I did start acupuncture last week.  We are really hoping for good results from the acupuncture visits.  The past few weeks have been better.

We had our 24 week appointment a few weeks ago and it went really well.  I had to take the glucose test to make sure that I do not have gestational diabetes.  All test results came back normal.  We have our next appointment the last weekend in July.

Scott and I are very excited to head to Texas this weekend for a wedding and our baby shower.  We are very excited to spend the weekend with close friends and family.

I will try to update soon! Love you all and thank you for following along with us on this journey.

Busy Busy Busy

Hello everyone! It has been some time since I updated the blog, but we have been very busy.  Work has been very busy for both Scott and myself and we have had some house guests.  Last weekend we enjoyed time with Scott's Aunt Caroline and Uncle Scott who were in town from Texas, and his Aunt MC who was in from Colorado Springs.  We also got to spend time with Kyle, Scott's brother.

The weekend before we were very blessed to have four college students from the Philippians stay with us.  They are part of the University of Santo Tomas Singing group that is on a 3 month tour of the US. They were in Colorado for a week and put on a concert at our church.  We were able to be a host family and really enjoyed spending time with these four young ladies.
